Not only is Steve Jobs at death’s door… his beloved mock turtleneck’s days are numbered as well.
This photo from the Sydney Morning Herald shows the dramatic change.
The fashion press was stunned today to learn that the turtleneck, which has been a constant companion to Mr. Jobs for so long, was ill.
“I’m shocked. Just shocked. I have no words” says Julian Scravner, Senior editor of Karma Coverings. “I mean… all things must pass, but you can’t really ever prepare for news like this.”
Rumors began swirling at last year’s MacWorld Expo when the garment appeared bloated and jaundiced, it’s neck exaggeratedly long.
It was reported that Mr. Jobs’ glasses was overheard saying that the “microphone” was nothing more than a brace. A spokeman for Apple, Inc. said that there was no truth to the rumor, and a law firm representing Mr. Jobs’ glasses issued a statement denying the comment, but now today we know the truth.
Steve Jobs, in an uncharacteristically candid moment had this to say: “Last July, after the iPhone 3G was released and MobileMe was crashing, I thought it looked a little off. I said to my shirt… you look a little green. It didn’t answer. I assumed everything was okay. Now I just know it just wanted its privacy.”
Mr. Jobs was wearing a blue button-down at the time.
